He had written in this post that he had come here for the first time during his college holidays. He was invited to visit the Telco plant. Let us tell you that later, when Ratan Tata was the chairman of Tata Group, he came to Jamshedpur several times. As the chairman of the group from 1991 to 2012, he used to come to Jamshedpur on the Founder’s Day.

Jamsetji Nauserwaji Tata established Tatanagar in 1907. The foundation of Tata Company was laid in the tribal village Sakchi. After this, his elder son Sir Dorabji Tata first established Tata Iron and Steel Company. In 1919, the Governor General of India, Viceroy Lord Chelmsford, named this place Jamshedpur in honor of Jamshedji Nausevaji Tata. The name of Kalimati station, located on the Howrah-Mumbai railway line, passing at a distance of about 5 kilometers from Sakchi, was changed to Tatanagar station. Ratan Tata was the son of Naval Tata, the adopted grandson of Tata Group founder Jamsetji Tata. When it came to choosing JRD’s successor, Ratan Tata was considered the most eligible.
