Sushma Swaraj (14 February 1952 – 6 August 2019) was an Indian politician and a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Sushma Swaraj was born in Ambala Cantt, Haryana, India. She studied law at Panjab University, Chandigarh, and later practiced as an advocate in the Supreme Court of India.

Sushma Swaraj’s political journey began in the 1970s when she joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organization. She later became associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and held various leadership positions within the party.

Swaraj was elected as a Member of Parliament multiple times. She served as an MP for the first time in 1977 and later in 1980, 1989, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2006, and 2014.
