Saifuddin Kichloo came from a prominent Kashmiri Muslim family. He received his education in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, and later pursued higher studies in law.

Kichloo was actively involved in the Indian freedom movement and became a prominent leader in the region. He was a staunch advocate for the rights of the people and worked against the oppressive policies of the British colonial government. He joined the All India Muslim League and later became associated with the Indian National Congress.

Kichloo is particularly remembered for his role during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre that occurred on 13 April 1919 in Amritsar, Punjab. He, along with another leader, Dr. Satyapal, organized a public meeting in protest against the repressive Rowlatt Act. The British authorities arrested both leaders, leading to widespread public outrage. The protest against their arrest culminated in the tragic Jallianwala Bagh massacre, where British troops opened fire on a peaceful gathering, resulting in the death and injury of hundreds of people.

After India gained independence in 1947, Saifuddin Kichloo continued to be active in politics. He served in various capacities in the state government of Jammu and Kashmir.

Saifuddin Kichloo’s courage and sacrifice during the Jallianwala Bagh massacre are remembered as symbols of the struggle against colonial oppression. He remains an important figure in the history of the Indian independence movement, and his contributions to the freedom struggle are celebrated by generations of Indians.
