Kartar Singh Sarabha was a prominent figure in the Indian independence movement, known for his dedication to the cause of liberating India from British colonial rule. 

Kartar Singh Sarabha was born on May 24, 1896, in Ludhiana, Punjab, which was then part of British India. His family had a history of activism, and he grew up in a politically charged environment. Sarabha was deeply influenced by the Ghadar Movement, which aimed at achieving Indian independence through armed struggle.

In 1912, at the age of 16, Kartar Singh Sarabha went to the United States to pursue higher education. During his time in the U.S., he became associated with the Ghadar Party, a revolutionary organization founded by Indian immigrants with the goal of liberating India from British rule.

Sarabha played a crucial role in the Ghadar Movement, which gained momentum during World War I. The movement aimed to exploit the British engagement in the war to launch a rebellion in India. Sarabha returned to India in 1915, actively participating in organizing and mobilizing support for the cause.

The Ghadar Party’s plans were discovered by the British authorities, leading to a series of arrests. Kartar Singh Sarabha was arrested in 1915, and after a trial, he was sentenced to death. On November 16, 1915, at the age of 19, Kartar Singh Sarabha was executed in Lahore Central Jail. Despite his young age, Sarabha displayed remarkable courage and commitment to the cause of Indian independence.

Kartar Singh Sarabha is remembered as a hero of the Indian independence movement, particularly for his role in the Ghadar Movement. His sacrifice and dedication to the cause continue to inspire generations of Indians. In his honor, several institutions, streets, and memorials have been named after him, and his legacy is celebrated annually on his martyrdom day.
