Joel McHale is an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, and television host, best known for his role as Jeff Winger on the NBC sitcom Community and as the host of The Soup on E!

McHale was raised in Seattle, Washington, where he attended Mercer Island High School.

He later studied acting at the University of Washington, where he became a member of the sketch comedy group Almost Live!.

Early Work: McHale started his career performing stand-up comedy in various comedy clubs. He also worked as a cast member on the sketch comedy show Almost Live! in the mid-1990s.

  

The Soup: McHale gained widespread recognition as the host of E!’s The Soup, a satirical television show that mocked various pop culture and reality TV moments. He hosted the show from 2004 to 2015.

Community: From 2009 to 2015, McHale starred as Jeff Winger, a charismatic and sarcastic lawyer, on the critically acclaimed NBC sitcom Community. His performance received praise from both critics and audiences.

Other Acting Roles: McHale has appeared in various TV shows and movies, including The Great Indoors, Ted, Spy Kids: All the Time in the World, and Santa Clarita Diet.
