Jeffrey Preston Bezos was born on January 12, 1964, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. His mother, Jacklyn Gise Jorgensen, was a teenager at the time of his birth, and his father, Ted Jorgensen, was a bike shop owner. Jacklyn later married Miguel “Mike” Bezos, and Jeff Bezos adopted his stepfather’s last name.

Bezos attended River Oaks Elementary School in Houston, Texas, where he displayed an early interest in science and technology. He later attended Miami Palmetto Senior High School. Bezos went on to study electrical engineering and computer science at Princeton University, graduating summa cum laude in 1986.
