Early Life and Education:
B. D. Jatti was born into a farming family. He pursued his education in Dharwad, Karnataka, and later attended Bombay University, earning his Bachelor of Arts degree. He then studied law and obtained his LL.B. degree.
B. D. Jatti’s Political Career:
B. D. Jatti’s political career began in the 1940s when he joined the Indian National Congress. He held various positions in state politics before being appointed as the Chief Minister of the Indian state of Mysore (now Karnataka) in 1958. He served as the Chief Minister until 1962.
Jatti later became a Member of Parliament and held several portfolios in the Union Cabinet, including Railways and Home Affairs. In 1974, he was elected as the Vice President of India, serving under President Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed. He served in this capacity until 1979.
