Vijayawada. A new liquor policy has been implemented in Andhra Pradesh, under which now 180 ml liquor will be available for Rs 99 in the state. After the implementation of this new liquor policy, the government has also floated tenders for liquor shops in Andhra Pradesh and after the tender, the government system has hung because such a large number of applications are coming. Tomorrow i.e. Friday (11 October) is the last day for the tender process for the new liquor shop.

The process of taking applications for license of liquor shops is going on in Andhra Pradesh. As per the pre-determined schedule, the last date for application was October 9 but the state government has extended this deadline to Friday. A lottery will be held on October 14, through which licenses for new shops will be distributed. The government has taken an important decision on accepting applications for licensing of liquor shops in the state. Regarding this, two more days were given to apply for the shop. In this regard, Principal Secretary of Excise Department Mukesh Kumar Meena had issued orders.

New shops will open from October 16
You can apply for a new liquor shop till 11th October evening. After this, names of shopkeepers will be drawn from lottery on 14th October. The licenses of the shops will be finalized on this day itself. New licensees can open liquor shops from October 16. Let us tell you that the government has already finalized the new liquor policy. This new liquor policy will be effective from 30 September 2026.

What is there in the liquor tender?
In this new tender, licenses will be issued to a total of 3396 liquor shops. Any person can apply for a shop both online and offline. A person can make any number of applications. Lotteries will be held for 3396 shops on 14th of this month. Those applying will have to pay a fee of Rs 2 lakh. The license fee has been fixed at Rs 50 lakh to Rs 85 lakh.

How can you pay the registration fee?
Registration fee should be paid through debit, credit card or bank challan. If DD is issued then it should be presented directly at the excise centers. On the 14th of this month, licenses for new shops will be distributed by drawing a lottery under the direction of the District Collectors. Once the names appear in the draw, new shops will be able to open from October 16.

More than 41 thousand applications
Let us tell you that till the night of 8th October, more than 41 thousand applications were received. That means 12 applications have been received for 3396 shops. The government has received a revenue of Rs 826.96 crore in the form of non-refundable fees paid by the applicants. It may be noted that the license fee has been finalized in four slabs depending on the population of the area where liquor shops are established.

In the first year, if the population is less than 10 thousand, the license fee is Rs 50 lakh, if the population is between 10 thousand to 50 thousand, it is Rs 55 lakh, if the population is up to 5 lakh, the license fee is 65 lakh And if the population is more than 5 lakh then the license fee is fixed at Rs 85 lakh. This fee will increase by ten percent in the second year.

The licensee can pay the license fee in six installments. Liquor retail licensees will give a margin of 20 percent. Earlier they used to give 10 percent margin. It may be noted that the Excise Department has said that they are providing a transparent liquor policy to ensure that all brands are available.
