Ratan Gothwal/ Ajmer: The ancient and historical temple of Maa Chamunda situated on the Aravalli hills in Ajmer, Rajasthan is a center of faith for the devotees. This temple is 1140 years old and was established by Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan. It is believed that Mother Chamunda is physically present here and fulfills every wish of the devotees.
Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan had established the temple
According to the priest of the temple, this temple is situated on the hill of Boraj village of Ajmer. It was founded by Emperor Prithviraj Chauhan and is considered to be the temple of his family goddess. Prithviraj Chauhan was an ardent devotee of Mother Chamunda and he gave the credit of defeating Mohammad Gauri 17 times in the war to the blessings of Mother Chamunda. Local people call Mother Chamunda as Chamunda Mai and this temple remains a center of special faith for them.
Temple situated at a height of 1300 feet
The temple is situated at a height of about 1300 feet and devotees from all over the country come here with their wishes. After the fulfillment of the vow, the devotees tie Chunari in the mother’s temple. Every devotee feels blessed by paying obeisance at this temple situated on the top of the hill.
Aarti is performed under the shadow of swords
A special thing about this temple is that during the Aarti here two people walk with swords and the flame of Aarti is under the shadow of the swords. A large number of devotees come from far and wide to see this amazing scene. The aarti of the temple and the religious activities there provide a unique experience for the devotees. This temple is not only a historical heritage but also an important part of the cultural and religious heritage of Rajasthan.
