New Delhi: India-Germany friendship is continuously achieving new heights under the leadership of PM Modi. The proof of this is also the third consecutive visit of the German Chancellor to India during his tenure. Olaf Scholz is on a visit to New Delhi these days. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the strategic partnership between India and Germany has emerged as a strong support at a time when the world is facing tension, conflict and uncertainty. Participating in the seventh Inter-Governmental Consultations (IGC) meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, P Modi said India-Germany relations are not a relationship of exchange but a transformative partnership of two capable and strong democracies.
PM Modi said, “The world is going through a period of tension, conflict and uncertainty. There are serious concerns about the rule of law and freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific region. In this time, the strategic partnership between India and Germany has emerged as a strong support.” The Prime Minister said this is Scholz’s third visit to India. Which marks the ‘triple celebration’ of friendship between India and Germany. He said, “At the last IGC in Berlin in 2022, we took important decisions for our bilateral cooperation. In two years, there has been encouraging progress in various areas of our strategic relations.
Germany becomes a big partner in defense, technology and energy
The friendship between India and Germany is not limited to defence, rather both the countries have developed important partnerships in fields ranging from technology to energy. This growing cooperation in areas like defence, technology, energy, green and sustainable development has further enhanced mutual trust. Prime Minister Modi also welcomed the ‘Focus on India’ strategy announced by Germany. “I am pleased that we are taking several new and important initiatives to expand and enhance our partnership and move from a ‘whole of government’ to a whole-of-nation approach,” Modi said. The IGC is a biennial exercise. and was last organized in Berlin in May 2022.
The German-Indian Green and Sustainable Development Partnership (GSDP) was agreed upon in the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. IGC was started in 2011. It comprehensively reviews cooperation and identifies new areas of engagement between the two countries in various fields.(Language)
