New Delhi. Common passengers traveling by general coaches are going to be in trouble. They will not need to travel by pushing or hanging. There will be no need to wait long for this. From December, passengers will be able to reach their destination conveniently. For the convenience of common passengers, Indian Railways has set a deadline to install four general coaches in all mail and express trains.

At present more than 10 thousand trains are running across the country. This includes Vande Bharat, Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Mail Express, Passenger, Local, EMU and DMU. The number of Mail Express is around 822. Four general coaches are being installed in all these trains. There will be two coaches at the front and two at the back.

The number has not been decided yet

Till now the number of general coaches in Mail Express was not fixed. Some had one coach, some two, some three and some four. It depended on the availability of coaches. For this reason, there used to be a fight to enter the general coaches of those trains in which the number of general coaches is less. Passengers have to travel by hanging. Due to not being able to enter the coach, many times these passengers were forced to enter the sleeper coach and travel.

Need to install 1300 coaches

According to the Railway Ministry, a total of 1300 coaches will be required in all the mail-express trains. These coaches are being manufactured at a rapid pace. As coaches are being manufactured, they are being installed in trains. So far, four coaches each have been installed in 120 trains.

2000 coaches to be manufactured by March

Indian Railways will manufacture a total of 2000 general coaches by March 2024. Out of these, after the installation of 1300 coaches, the remaining 700 coaches will be replaced with old coaches. In this way, people will not need to push and travel in general coaches.
