The women of the self-help group have been running this campaign successfully for the last four years, due to which their economic condition is also improving.

Women of self-help groups in Rajnandgaon have been running the “Jimmy Kanda Lagao, Paisa Kamao” campaign under Maa Bamleshwari Federation for the last four years. Under this campaign, women in every village are being motivated to cultivate Jimmy Kanda. Self-help group member Purnima Sahu said that Jimmy Kanda’s farming has increased his income and he was also honored by the Chief Minister.
Main objective of the campaign
Campaign head Shivkumar Devangan told Local18 that the main objective of the “Jimmy Kanda Lagao, Paisa Kamao” campaign is to make women self-reliant. He said, “Our idea is that every woman should plant at least 300 Jimmy Kanda seeds, which will give her an income of about ₹ 13,500. In the last four years, about 32 lakh Jimmy Kanda seeds were planted, which has generated an income of about ₹ 14 crore to the women.

After planting the seeds of Jimmy Kanda, its weight increases to more than one and a half kilos in two years. Its sale in the market is more than ₹ 30 per kg. The demand for Jimmy Kanda is very good and people like to eat it. Under the campaign, women are being motivated to plant at least 300 Jimmy Kandas, so that they can earn an income of more than ₹ 13,000 and improve their economic condition.
