Dhanbad: The terror of jackals has increased in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The situation has reached such a level that after jackals, people have now become their attackers. A wild jackal wreaked havoc in Deoli Panchayat under Govindpur police station area on Monday evening. Five people of the village were badly injured in the jackal attack. After this the angry villagers killed the jackal. There is panic in the entire area due to jackal attack. The incidents of jackal attacks are continuously increasing in Koyalanchal area, due to which there is fear among the villagers.
The incident started on Monday evening. When a wild jackal reached Dukhurdangal Tola of Deoli village. There, Ganesh Kumbhakar (35), who was returning home after taking bath in the pond, was suddenly attacked. The jackal bit Ganesha’s leg badly, leaving him bleeding. Somehow the villagers made noise and chased the jackal away from there. But, the jackal did not stop there. After this he moved towards Rajwar Tola of Deoli village. Where Hiralal Gop (60) and his wife Sari Devi (55), who were standing outside the house, were also made victims.

The jackal badly scratched and injured both the husband and wife. During this, the nearby villagers made noise and chased away the jackal again, but Hiralal and his wife were badly injured due to the jackal’s attack. After this the jackal tried to enter Manoj Gop’s house, where he attacked Manoj’s wife Reena Devi (34) and his 14-year-old son Balram. The jackal bit and injured both of them. Balram Gop showed courage and caught the jackal and threw him on the ground. Meanwhile, Reena Devi started making noise, due to which people gathered nearby. The villagers killed the jackal.

All the injured were immediately taken to SNMMCH hospital for treatment. The injured include Ganesh Kumbhakar, Hiralal Gop, his wife Sari Devi, Reena Devi and Balram Gop. After first aid in the hospital, the condition of most of the injured is said to be stable. However, the condition of Ganesh Kumbhkar is critical. He is undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The coming of jackals from the forest to the village and attacking people is a matter of concern. The villagers have demanded the administration to take appropriate steps as soon as possible, so that such incidents can be stopped.
