New Delhi: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda, convicted in the coal scam case, has received a big blow from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has refused to stay the conviction of Madhu Koda. He has been sentenced to three years imprisonment by the lower court. They were demanding a ban on this punishment. The Supreme Court has refused to stay the sentence. Now he will not be able to contest assembly elections.
Madhu Koda had appealed to the Supreme Court against the three-year sentence awarded by the lower court. Koda had challenged the decision of Delhi High Court in the Supreme Court. Madhu Koda wanted to contest the Jharkhand Assembly elections. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had also rejected his petition saying that the petitioner wants to stay the decision only on the ground that he can contest the elections, which is not justified.
