A sensational incident of murder has come to light from Udupi, Karnataka. 44 year old Balkrishna’s health had deteriorated three weeks ago. Doctors said he had jaundice and Balakrishna died on October 20. Nothing seemed unusual in his death but the family members of both his wife Pratima and Balkrishna became suspicious of Pratima. When the police investigated, it was found that to remove her husband from her path, Pratima, with the help of her lover, mixed a little poison in her husband’s food and fed him every day.
When doctors from Udupi to Bengaluru gave answers regarding Balakrishna’s health. After this, on October 20, Pratima, along with her lover Dilip Hegde, murdered him at his house in Ajekar, Karkala in Udupi district.
Married 17 years ago
According to media reports, Pratima was married to Balakrishna Pujari 17 years ago. they have two children. He lived in Mumbai but due to the Corona epidemic in 2020, his family moved to Ajekar. Accused Pratima’s brother Sandeep knew about the relationship between his sister and Dilip. On Sandeep’s complaint, the police detained Pratima and Dilip and interrogated them. Based on the complaint of Balakrishna’s brother Ramakrishna, the police registered a case of murder and criminal conspiracy against Pratima and Dilip. Investigation revealed that the victim was slowly poisoned by his wife and this poison was supplied to him by Dilip. Investigation also found that in the early hours of October 20, both of them together murdered Balakrishna by strangulating him with a pillow. At the same time, Dilip’s presence at home was also recorded in CCTV.
Balakrishna was suffering from fever and vomiting for 25 days.
According to the police complaint, hotel employee Balkrishna was suffering from fever and vomiting for the last 25 days. He was initially taken to the Rotary Hospital in Karkala, where he was diagnosed with jaundice. He was later shifted to KMC Hospital, Manipal, Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru and finally to NIMHANS and Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru. However, he did not recover and returned to his home in Ajekar on the night of 19 October. He died on October 20 at around 3:30 am.
Brother had expressed doubt on death
After Balkrishna’s sudden death, Pratima’s brother Sandeep becomes suspicious of him and interrogates him. Police said that Pratima first weakened her husband by giving him slow poison and then killed him in the name of treatment.
Pratima was giving poison to Balakrishna by mixing rice in it for the last one and a half month. She used to feed rice mixed with arsenic trioxide, a chemotherapy drug given for blood cancer. Balakrishna’s health suddenly deteriorated one day after eating poisonous rice, after which he was admitted to the hospital.
Strangled after all the relatives left the house
According to the police, Sandeep pressured Pratima to confess her relationship with Dilip. Then she admitted that Dilip gave her poison, which she mixed in Balakrishna’s food daily. He also confessed that Dilap came to the house at around 1.30 am on October 20, when all the relatives had left. Together they strangulated Balakrishna and tried to present it as death due to illness.
Met Dilip through social media
Investigation also revealed that Pratima and her husband, who ran a beauty parlor, lived a simple life. But Pratima, who got married at the age of 18, wanted a more luxurious lifestyle. Some time ago, she came in contact with rich man Dilip through social media and then both of them hatched a conspiracy to kill her husband.
