The Home Ministry declared Hizb-ut-Tahrir an illegal/banned organization and said that this organization is a serious threat to India’s democratic system and internal security. The notification of the Union Home Ministry states that Hizb ut Tahrir is involved in radicalizing the youth and inspiring them to join terrorist organizations like ISIS. Along with this, this group is also involved in raising funds for terrorist activities. The Home Ministry has said that Hizb ut Tahrir organizes meetings to encourage youth to join terrorist activities with the help of social media and secure apps. This group is promoting terrorism.

The central government has declared Hizb-ut-Tahrir a banned organization under UAPA. The government believes that Hizb ut-Tahrir is involved in terrorism and has participated in various acts of terrorism in India. The Home Ministry has said that the aim of Hizb-ut-Tahrir is to establish an Islamic country and caliphate globally including India by removing the democratic government through jihad.

Hizb-ut-Tahrir has been declared a banned organization in many countries including Bangladesh and the United Kingdom. Britain called it an anti-Semitic organization that actively promotes and encourages terrorism.
