Male: The enthusiasm of Mohammad Muizzu, who was messing with India on the pretext of China, has now cooled down. The economic condition of Muizzu’s country has deteriorated after Indian tourists avoided going to Maldives. Now Muizzu wants the people of India to start tourism in Maldives again. Therefore, Maldives has discussed the possibilities of tourism sector with India. This was said in a news in the media on Friday. The development comes days after Maldivian President Mohammed Muizzu, during his first bilateral visit to New Delhi, described India as “one of the largest tourism source markets” for his country and expressed hope that more Indian tourists will visit the archipelagic nation.

Let us inform that during Muizzu’s visit, India had emphasized on October 7 that its friendly relations with Maldives will continue. Because Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Muizzu presented a blueprint for comprehensive economic and maritime cooperation. This is a sign of the relationship moving in the right direction again after reaching a difficult period in late 2023 and early 2024. Maldives Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal on Thursday discussed tourism development opportunities in Baresadhoo and Gaadhoo in Laamu Atoll with Indian High Commissioner to Maldives Munu Mahavar on Thursday, state-run PSM media said on Friday.

Maldives engaged in improving relations with India

After strained relations with India, Maldives has lost all its arrogance. Faisal said in a post on Mahawar, Faisal and other officials from both sides visited Baresadhoo and Gadhoo as part of the Laamu Atoll tour. “Discussions were held on its potential as a key destination for tourism development and how we can realize new development opportunities while preserving the island’s natural beauty and heritage,” Faisal said in the post. Responding to his post, Mahavar wrote, “The tourism sector is a priority area of our bilateral cooperation and we look forward to working closely with the Government of Maldives to further enhance this partnership.” (Language)
