In the year 2019, Randhir Singh had led BJP to victory for the first time, whereas before this in the year 2014, Randhir Singh had won from JVM. Talking about the population in Sarath assembly constituency, Sarath has the highest number of backward castes, in which Dalit Mandal And Mahato’s number is around 23 percent. After this, the number of Muslims and tribals is about twenty percent each. At the same time, among the forward castes, Bhumihar is ten percent, Rajput and Brahmin are about five percent each. However, most of the candidates from Sarath Assembly seat are Bhumihar and the winning MLAs are also from Bhumihar caste. Therefore it is believed that Bhumihar voters play a decisive role somewhere.
Let us tell you that after the formation of Jharkhand, Shashank Shekhar Bhokta from JMM had won the Sarath assembly seat for the first time. He defeated Sarath’s veteran leader Uday Shankar Singh alias Chunna Babu by 13 thousand votes. Whereas Chunna Singh kept winning this seat continuously from the year 1985 to the year 2000. It is said about Chunna Singh that he has personal hold on Sarath assembly seat. He has also won this assembly seat as an independent. In 2005 he defeated Shashank Shekhar Bhokta.
