During this time, when he was asked about his closeness to Ratan Tata, he had said that the chairman has only two close friends, they are Tito and Tango. These two are the names of his pet dogs. Venkataraman had then also told that both of them were German Shepherds and they lived permanently at the door of Ratan Tata’s house.
Rejected award for taking care of dog
Ratan Tata loved humans as well as animals very much. He kept many pets in his house. How much he loved them can be gauged from the fact that due to the ill health of a dog, he even rejected an award given by Britain. Referring to this incident related to Ratan Tata, Indian businessman and actor Suhail Seth said that Ratan Tata had once rejected the Life Time Achievement Award of the British Asian Trust due to the ill health of his pet dog.
This award was to be given by the Royal Family of Britain. Britain’s Royal Family had invited Ratan Tata for this. For this, Ratan Tata had to go to London in February 2018. Ratan Tata had also given his consent, but at the last moment his pet dog’s health deteriorated, due to which he refused to go to the award ceremony.
According to Suhail Seth, he had also gone to London for this program. He had reached here several days before the ceremony. After reaching London, Ratan Tata called him and told him that his pet dog was unwell and he could not leave it. In such a situation, he has canceled his plan to come to London. When Prince Charles came to know about this, he praised Ratan Tata a lot. Not only this, Ratan Tata had also arranged kennels and food for the street dogs near Bombay House, the headquarters of the Tata Group in Mumbai.
Ratan Tata opened a hospital for pets
Recently, Ratan Tata also opened a hospital for pets, in the inauguration ceremony of which Ratan Tata had said that he knows the importance of such hospitals. He also said that I consider dogs as a part of the family, that is why he has kept many pets in his house. Tata had built a five-storey hospital for pets, in which more than 200 animals can be treated simultaneously.
