Stockholm. The winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature was announced on Thursday. This time this award is being given to South Korean writer Han Kang. Han Kang has been narrating the ups and downs in human life through her writings, for which she is being honored with this honour.
53 year old fiction writer Han Kang has also won the Booker Prize. In 2007, he was awarded the Man Booker International Prize for the novel ‘The Vegetarian’. ‘The Vegetarian’ is a novel that depicts the disastrous consequences of a woman’s decision to stop eating meat.
According to the Nobel Committee, this honor will be given ‘for the profound poetic prose’ of Han Kang. In which historical traumas and the fragility of human life have been underlined. The Nobel Prize Committee has been giving these awards in the field of literature since 1901. Han Kang is the 18th woman to win this award. Apart from this, she is also the first South Korean woman to receive this honour.
Earlier, Nobel Prizes have been announced in the fields of Chemistry, Physics and Medicine. The 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry will be awarded to David Baker, Demis Hassabis and John M Jumper. David Baker will receive the Nobel for computational protein design, while Demis Hassabis and John Jumper will receive the Nobel for predicting protein structure.
