While good quality onions are available in the market for Rs 60 to Rs 70 per kg, here good onions are available for only Rs 35 per kg.
Buffer Stock of National Cooperative Consumers Federation
NCCF has maintained a buffer stock of onions purchased directly from farmers. To protect consumers from exorbitant prices and to protect middlemen from windfall profits, the same onion is being sold for retail at a subsidized rate of Rs 35 per kg. It has been kept for sale at Chowk intersection in different districts of Uttar Pradesh.

A condition has also been set for the customers to buy onion. To buy this onion, you will have to stand in line and wait for your turn and a person can buy only 2 kg of onion from this stall in a day. This rule has been made so that everyone can easily get onion as per their need.

Feedback from customers after buying onion at cheap rates
While people are troubled by the high prices of onions in the market, now people are looking quite happy by purchasing onions at Rs 35 per kg through NCCF. Talking to Local 18, people say that this scheme is very good and it is providing relief from onion inflation to a great extent. Due to it being expensive, the poor had stopped eating onion.
