Sonbhadra: Shaktipeeth Maa Shitala Dham, located at the main intersection of Robertsganj city of Sonbhadra district, remains a major center of faith for the devotees. In 1846, when WB Roberts, the British Sub-District Officer of Mirzapur district, established Robertsganj town, Jagannath Sahu, a resident of Adalganj, was made the first citizen of the town. After this, various business communities arrived in this city, among which Vaishya traders from Adalganj, Ahraura, Madihan, Mirzapur, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi were prominent. One of these businessmen, Lala Ram Dev, installed the idol of Mother Shitala under the Neem tree situated on his land, after which this goddess became revered as a folk goddess and family deity.

After this, Bhola Seth, son of Lala Ram Dev, became the chairman. During this time, the construction of the temple started in 1971 with the cooperation of local citizens. This grand temple was built with the cooperation of the city residents including Satyanarayan, Shambhu Seth, Shyam Sundar Seth, Shiv Shankar Prasad Kesari.

On the day of Ashtami, Maa Shitala is especially worshiped by the tribal devotees here. The tribals also organize their traditional dance, which creates a festive atmosphere in the temple. On this special day, a large number of devotees come to Maa Shitala Dham and pay their respects.
