Madhubani: Vaibhav Kumar Jha, a resident of Khoir village of Rajnagar block of Madhubani district of Bihar, has changed his career and has stepped in a new direction. He first studied B.Tech Engineering from Kurukshetra University and then worked in a reputed multinational company. After some time, Vaibhav decided to leave his job and return to his village. He chose banana farming as his future and today he has a banana orchard spread over 20 bighas.
Vaibhav started gardening of G9 variety of banana through scientific methods in 2018. His goal was to make farming profitable in one year. He has created employment opportunities not only for himself but also for other youth of his village. Presently he is earning an income of Rs 70 to 80 lakh per year. Their turnover is in crores.
Vaibhav adopted new farming techniques which improved his yield. He says “It was difficult for me to live in the city. I wanted the youth in my village to move forward in the direction of development.” He told that the main reason behind starting banana farming was so that he could get quick fruits and income from it.
Talking to Local 18, Vaibhav tells that his bananas are sold everywhere in Bihar. He says that sometimes during festival time there is so much demand that it becomes difficult to fulfill. More than 400 cartoons of bananas are packed every day during the season. Today Vaibhav is employing 20-25 women along with local youth, who help them in their gardening work. His hard work and dedication have also inspired other people of the village. Vaibhav’s story proves that success can be achieved in any field by making proper use of education and technical knowledge.
In the village, Vaibhav is not only recognized as a farmer but he has become a source of inspiration. His success has proved that with determination and hard work in the right direction, even the impossible can be made possible. Vaibhav has proved that success can be achieved even in the village, provided there is a determination in the mind.
