New Delhi: Delhi Municipal Corporation i.e. MCD has taken major action against 84 factories running in Delhi. According to reports, the MCD has closed 84 factories for violating norms and cut off power supply to several industrial units across the capital. Giving information about this on Wednesday, a Municipal Corporation official said that this action has been taken as part of the efforts being made across Delhi to curb industrial pollution and regulate illegal operations in ‘non-conforming areas’. .
520 industrial units were inspected

These are areas where 70 percent of the plot is used for industrial purposes after getting permission under ‘zoning’ rules. Out of these 520 industrial units, 84 units were found violating the prescribed norms due to which they were closed. There are 27 ‘non-conforming areas’ or unplanned industrial areas in the national capital. The official said that apart from this, electricity to 7 other industrial units has also been cut.
‘More such actions are being taken’
The Municipal Corporation officer said that more such actions are being taken. It is being told that more such cases are likely to be noticed in the coming days, especially in Rithala area of North-West Delhi. When asked about the impact of these factories on the pollution levels in the Yamuna river, an MCD official said, ‘All types of industries that cause pollution, no matter where they are located, are the cause of pollution in the Yamuna.
