Jamui. Bihar’s famous Nagi Nakti Bird Sanctuary will now create its special identity across the country through the Postal Department. A stamp symbolizing this sanctuary was released at Jhajha sub post office on Tuesday. On this special occasion, Munger Postal Superintendent Ashutosh Kumar and Sub-Divisional Postal Officer Abhishek Kumar launched this historic initiative.
Through this program it was ensured that from now on all letters sent from Jhajha Post Office will have the symbol of Nagi Nakti Bird Sanctuary in the form of a seal. This step is being seen not only as an important effort to give recognition to the natural heritage of Bihar but it will also become a medium to increase awareness about the sanctuary in the entire country. Nagi Nakti Sanctuary also recently made its presence felt as a postage stamp during the Nagi Mahotsav held in February 2024 and this new pictorial obverse is another big step in that direction.
The Postal Superintendent issued an announcement saying that the stamp will reach across the country.
Postal Superintendent Ashutosh Kumar said on this occasion that Nagi Nakti Bird Sanctuary is rapidly making its mark on the world map due to its unique biodiversity. He emphasized that the Postal Department, which is already undergoing changes, is now going to play an important role among the common people. This pictorial distortion will be helpful in giving recognition to Nagi Nakti at national and international level. He told that with this seal being put on the letters, the name of the sanctuary will reach far and wide, due to which people across the country will get information about it.
Along with this, the Postal Department will not only expand its services through this process but will also increase awareness among people towards environment and conservation. He said that other postal services related to Nagi Bird Sanctuary will also be started in future and in the coming time, a special postal stamp will also be issued in its name.
This will give recognition and awareness among people
Forest Department official Ravi Kumar said that the message of Nagi Nakti will reach every household through post and this sanctuary will gain popularity across the country. Such efforts will help in increasing awareness among people about local heritage and environmental protection. He told that at present it has been started from Jhajha Post Office and soon it will be expanded to other areas also. This initiative is also expected to boost local tourism as people will want to know more about Nagi Nakti Bird Sanctuary and visit it.
Bird festival was organized here twice
It is noteworthy that Nagi-Nakti Bird Sanctuary located in Jhajha of Jamui is known for its characteristics. Migratory birds from regions like Siberia, North America, Africa come here every year and that is why this reservoir is known all over the world. Bird festival has been organized twice so far in Bihar, and both were held here. Along with this, recently it was also included in the list of Ramsar site. After which now a postal stamp has been issued in its name.
