Jaipur News : अनूठा है रेनवाल का दशहरा, यहां विजयदशमी के दिन नहीं अष्टमी को होता है रावण दहन

Jaipur. Vijayadashami has special importance in Indian Hindu tradition. This festival is celebrated in many places according to the dates and their traditions. Something similar happens in Kishangarh Renwal of Jaipur Rural, where Ravana is burnt twice in the same city. Here Ravana is burnt on Ashtami, two days before Vijayadashami. This tradition has been going on for 155 years. Ravana Dahan in Rajasthan also starts from this city.

This is the reason for burning Ravana on Ashtami
Local people told that Dussehra fair first started about 600 years ago in Harsauli area near Renwal. It is mentioned in the self-written Dandak Ramayana verses of Jhanjhudas Maharaj in the Jaipuri style of Dhundhari language. After 100 years, Dussehra and Ravana Dahan started in Renwal.

Due to good relations with Mahant of Harsauli of Renwal Thikana, Mahant used to come here and recite Payana on Dussehra, hence Dussehra started in Renwal before Vijayadashami. After this, Ravana Dahan started being burnt on different dates in the villages and towns of Renwal. According to the local people, due to the events being organized at many places, people could reach everywhere, hence the organizers of the Dussehra fair of Renwal instead of burning Ravana on Vijayadashami, burnt Ravana on the day of Ashtami itself.

Renwal’s Dussehra is unique
To participate in the Dussehra fair, expatriates come along with their families from Mumbai, Kolkata, Assam, Nepal, Chennai etc. People remain enthusiastic about the fair. On the day of the fair, Lord Lakshman reaches the Dussehra grounds sitting in a palanquin, the entire monkey army wearing masks dances along with him.

Along with the killing of Ravana, the effigy is burnt along with fireworks. In celebration of the victory, people perform aarti at various places on the way to Raghunath ji in a palanquin. At night, to celebrate the victory, Avatar Leelas are staged, where masked characters from Ram’s army dance to the beats of drums. South Indian dance style can be seen in mask dance.

There is a war between the armies for an hour
Apart from this, the main attraction of Renwal Dussehra fair is the war between the servants of Ram and Ravana. Here, the servants of Ram and Ravana fight a war by making masks in South Indian style. The war continues between the armies of Shri Ram, Lakshman and Ravana for about an hour.
