Pt. Vijayshankar Mehta
We ask something or the other from God every day, it is our right also. But during Navratri we should remember one thing that we have got the form of human being. Now what greater achievement can God give us than this? Man has three things – body, mind and soul. His difference from animals lies in this matter.
With this body the animal does all the work which a human being also does, but still when Ram ji said to the people of Ayodhya, ‘Bade Bhaag Manush Tanu Pava. Sur darbh sab granthanhi gava.’ ‘A human body is obtained by great luck, all the scriptures have said this.
This body is rare even for the gods.’ So Ram ji wants to say that there are five action organs and five knowledge organs in the human body, make good use of these ten. These should be operated either from the heart or from the intellect, but not from the mind.
For one who has managed the senses properly, the body is a great achievement, because through these paths one can reach the soul. And when we touch our soul, realize it, the sufferings of our body go away. Make proper use of senses during Navratri, i.e. maintain health. When the cosmic energy is ready to help us, why not control the senses and keep the body healthy.
