Chhatarpur: Far away from the district, in Thakura village under Gaurihar district, there is a temple of Mother Goddess whose history is related to the brave warrior Alha. Historians say that near this temple there was the fort of Alha-Udal where Alha lived. It is a popular belief that even today people come here to have darshan of Goddess Alha.
History of the temple
Priest Shivram Swaroop Sharma while talking to Local 18 tells that this temple was named Alha Maa or Alham Devi because the brave warriors used to go from Alha Mahoba to worship Maihar Maa. Since Maihar is far away from Mahoba, Alha thought why not bring Maa from Maihar and settle her in Mahoba. Alha went to Maihar and requested the mother. Mother said, ‘I am ready to go but wherever you stay, I will establish myself there.’ Mata set out with Alha on an elephant, but before Mahoba, Alha had to stop for rest and Mata settled here.

The brave warrior Allah comes here even today
According to the priest, even today Aalha comes here to have darshan of the Mother Goddess. The proof of his arrival is that only Allah is the first person to worship the Mother Goddess. Flowers are planted here even before I am worshipped. All the devotees who have been coming to this holy place of Allah Maa for years also say that no matter how early you come here to worship, everyone leaves after doing Allah worship here.
Vijay Bahadur Singh Bundela, former MLA of Chandla Assembly of Chhatarpur and resident of Thakurra, says that in the beginning I had nothing. ‘Like others, I too was living an ordinary life but I got such a miraculous blessing from my mother that I became MLA thrice.’
