Rishi Kumar Chaurasia, technical assistant at Government Agriculture Center Shivgarh in Rae Bareli district, who has 10 years of experience in the agriculture sector, told Local 18 that major crops like wheat, gram, barley, peas, maize are sown in the Rabi season. Because these crops are prepared in low temperatures and they are harvested in the months of February to March. Vegetables like potato, tomato, brinjal, ladyfinger, spinach, carrot and radish are also grown in this season. These crops are ready in a very short time and give good profits. Therefore, by cultivating these crops in the month of October, farmers can get good yields and also earn good profits.

Keep these things in mind while sowing crops

Rishi Kumar Chaurasia told Local 18 that farmers should keep some important things in mind before sowing crops in Rabi season. This will give better yield. Test the soil before sowing so that the correct amount of nutrients in it can be ascertained. The pH value and fertilizer capacity of the soil are important. He told that due to deep plowing of the soil, the soil becomes friable and fertile, due to which the seeds germinate well.

Organic fertilizer increases soil fertility

Rishi Kumar Chaurasia told Local 18 that organic fertilizers like cow dung, compost or green manure should be used in farming. This increases the fertility of the soil. Before sowing the seeds, treat them with fungicide or insecticide. So that diseases can be prevented. Rabi crops are sown between October and December. The exact time of sowing depends on the climate and region, so sow keeping this in mind. Rabi crops generally require less water. But, it is important to have moisture in the soil at the time of sowing. Do light irrigation immediately after sowing.

Make arrangements for drainage for Rabi crop.

Rishi Kumar Chaurasia told Local 18 that while cultivating Rabi crop, take special care that there is no water logging in the field. Avoid water logging in the field, as it can cause the seeds to rot. It is important to have proper drainage arrangements. Also take care of organic farming and micronutrients (zinc, iron, boron) so that the quality of the crop can increase. Before sowing, plow the field thoroughly and remove weeds. Also, control weeds in the initial days after sowing, so that they do not snatch nutrients from the crops.
