Koderma. For Durga Puja, artisans are working day and night to finalize the puja pandal. Durga Puja is being organized by the Public Durga Puja Committee Maduatand since 1970. But, the most interesting thing here is that till now no puja committee has been formed here even once. Still, the Durga Puja here always remains the center of attraction in the entire district.
About 55 years ago, a Bengali doctor was impressed by his spirit of service and was gifted land by the CH company involved in mica mining in the district. Instead of using this land privately, a doctor who had immense faith in Goddess Durga started Durga Puja publicly with the help of local people.
Dr. AN Dutta started the puja 55 years ago
Taraknath Dutta, associated with Durga Puja, told Local 18 that in the year 1970, his father late. Durga Puja was started by Dr. AN Dutta. In the initial period, puja was organized in open spaces. After this, a Durga Mandap was constructed with the help of the local people, in which worship took place for about 50 years. After this, this time a big building of Durga Mandap has been constructed.

Taraknath Dutta told that this time a grand and attractive puja pandal in the format of a Buddhist temple has been constructed by the artisans of Manisha Tent of Jhumri Tilaiya. Attractive thermocol designing work inside and outside the pandal was done by local thermocol artist Chandan Kumar and his team. The statue of Mata was prepared by a sculptor from Kolkata. Here Durga Puja is performed in Bengali style, which priest Bhootnath Majumdar has been performing for 40 years.
Committee has not been formed till date in 55 years
Further told that no elections are held in Public Durga Puja Committee Maduatand. All the members of the committee sit together and decide the outline of Durga Puja. Play an important role in making the puja successful. Told that the tradition has been going on here since 1970. Every member of the committee is considered an officer in his own right and everyone has the right to take decisions to conduct the puja in a better way.
