The Mahant of the temple tells that when the British were building the railway line at this place, due to the canal on the banks of Saryu near the temple, they tried to take the railway line through the pillars. Then, Mother Mahamada Samay appeared in a dream to the English head who was in charge of that work and said that her statue found during the excavation should be installed in the temple, only then the construction would be successful.
