Till September 28, 55 cases of Chikungunya were reported in Delhi, whereas till October 5, 69 patients were found suffering from Chikungunya. Not only this, the report says that apart from these cases, around 40 Chikungunya cases have also been observed whose addresses have either not been recorded completely or have been recorded incorrectly.
That’s why it is called bone break fever
Chikungunya is a viral disease which is caused by mosquito bites. It is called break bone fever because along with fever, it also causes severe joint and muscle pain. The pain in the joints is so severe that the patient is neither able to sit nor get up. The fever also comes very high. Along with this, headache, fatigue, nausea or vomiting and red rashes on the body are also its symptoms.

Chikungunya virus is spread by the bite of infected mosquitoes of the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus species. These mosquitoes stay in shady places during the day, from sunrise to sunset, and bite at this time. However, these mosquitoes can sometimes bite even at night. Symptoms of the disease appear within 3 to 7 days after the mosquito bite.

In chikungunya, first of all there is pain in the joints, but the biggest side effect of this disease is the persistence of joint pain for a long time and due to this, 30 to 40 percent of the patients develop chronic arthritis which lasts for years. Is. It has been seen in many patients that once Chikungunya occurs, the pain persists even after 8-10 years.

Former nodal officer of MCD, Dr. Satpal says that there is no special treatment for chikungunya. Rather, treatment is done only on the basis of symptoms. However, to prevent this, the most important thing is to prevent mosquito bites. For this, whenever you go out, wear full sleeve clothes. Wear clothes that cover your legs. Install mosquito net. If there is water accumulated anywhere in the house or outside, remove it immediately. If fever comes along with pain, consult a doctor immediately.
