Kanpur: Changes are now expected in the country’s historic Green Park Stadium, which has been in the news since the Test match between India and Bangladesh. In this match, India registered a spectacular victory in just two days of play, due to which the chances of reviving the stadium have increased. Efforts to change the look and feel of Green Park Stadium in Kanpur will start soon. The spectator capacity will be increased here and the drainage system of the stadium will also be improved. Work on the plan for this has been started.
New drainage system and increased spectator capacity
Green Park Stadium of Kanpur is an old and historical stadium of the country. This was the fifth stadium in the country to host a Test match. But now due to old infrastructure and lack of facilities, it does not get a chance to host ODI and T20 matches. Keeping this in mind, a plan is being made to prepare the stadium in a modern manner.
Divisional Commissioner held a meeting
Kanpur Divisional Commissioner Amit Gupta held a meeting with Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and administrative officials, in which important decisions were taken for the improvement of Green Park Stadium. PWD has decided to remove the bad condition balcony of the stadium and a new three-storey balcony will be built in its place. A new box with a seating capacity of 500 people will also be prepared for the VVIP block, tickets for which will be sold completely. Along with this, underground parking has been planned in the Green Park and the entire electrical infrastructure will also be updated.
Media gallery will be modern
The media gallery of Green Park Stadium will also be modernized, because broadcasting and commentary is done from here. There is a plan to improve it further, so that Kanpur’s Green Park Stadium can host not only Test but also ODI and T20 matches. There are preparations to increase the spectator capacity of the stadium to 40,000. Kanpur Divisional Commissioner Amit Gupta said that talks are going on with the officials of Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association and Sports Department, so that Green Park Stadium can once again get a chance to host T20 and ODI matches. Efforts have been started so that this historical stadium can enhance the pride of the city.
