Former police officer Sachin Waze gets big relief from Bombay High Court
Former police officer Sachin Waze has got a big relief from the Bombay High Court. Sachin Waje has got bail from the Bombay High Court in the alleged extortion case of Rs 100 crore related to Anil Deshmukh. The Bombay High Court has directed the special PMLA court of the Mumbai Sessions Court to decide the terms and conditions for his bail.
Sachin Waje will remain in jail for now
Sachin Waze had filed a petition for bail arguing that other accused in the case, including Anil Deshmukh, had already been granted bail. However, Waze will remain in jail for now as he is in jail in the Mansukh Hiren murder and Antilia explosives case.
When was Sachin Waje arrested
Sachin Waze was arrested in March 2021 for his alleged role in the discovery of a vehicle laden with explosives near ‘Antilia’, the south Mumbai residence of industrialist Mukesh Ambani, and the murder of Thane businessman Mansukh Hiran.
In April 2021, the High Court had directed the CBI to conduct a preliminary inquiry into the allegations of corruption made by former police commissioner Parambir Singh and abuse of official power by Deshmukh. On the basis of this investigation, CBI had registered an FIR against Deshmukh and his associates as well as Sachin Waje.
Singh had accused the then Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of directing police officers to collect Rs 100 crore every month from Mumbai’s restaurants and bars. Singh also claimed that Sachin Waze, who was earlier suspended after being made an accused in the fake encounter case, was reinstated and was allegedly extorting money on Deshmukh’s behalf. The other accused in the case are Deshmukh’s former associates Sanjeev Palande and Kundan Shinde. All three are currently out on bail. (With PTI Inputs)
