The state’s first cold drink plant is being established in Kandrori, the industrial area of Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. This plant is being set up by the renowned company Varun Beverages Limited, which will do the work of Pepsi bottling. The company aims to start production by March 2025. About Rs 250 crore is being invested in this ambitious project, out of which more than Rs 90 crore has been spent so far.
employment opportunities
With the opening of this plant, the youth of Kangra district will get new employment opportunities. According to the Industries Department, about 400 people will get direct employment in this plant. Apart from this, many more people will also get indirect employment through works like wholesale and retail sale of cold drinks, freight transportation, loading-unloading. This project will contribute significantly to the economic development of the area and will benefit the local people.
Chief Minister laid the foundation stone
In December 2023, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu had laid the foundation stone of this plant. After the foundation stone laying and completion of all the formalities, the construction work of the plant was started rapidly. Till now most of its construction work has been completed and the company has set a target to start production by March 2025.
State’s first cold drink factory
This will be the first cold drink plant of Himachal Pradesh, which will prove to be a milestone for the supply of cold drinks in the state. Till now cold drinks were supplied to Himachal Pradesh from Punjab, but with the establishment of this plant, not only will cold drinks be easily available in the state, but the transportation cost will also reduce. This facility will also prove beneficial for hotels, restaurants, dhabas and shopkeepers, because they will no longer have to go far for the supply of cold drinks.

With the arrival of this plant, not only will the local people get employment, but the industrial development of the entire area will also gain momentum. 11 hectares of land has been made available for this project by the state government, which shows the grandeur and economic potential of this project.
