Hurricane Milton: Hurricane Milton wreaked havoc in Central Florida on Thursday. The storm had reached the western coast of the state on Thursday itself. The storm spawned deadly tornadoes that destroyed homes. Due to the storm, electricity to about 20 lakh houses was cut off. The U.S. National Hurricane Center said the storm made landfall near Siesta Key as a Category 3 hurricane around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. During this time the wind speed was 120 miles per hour (195 kilometers per hour). Flash flooding has occurred in parts of west-central Florida.

People’s problems have increased

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said the storm spawned at least 19 tornadoes and caused damage in several counties, destroying about 125 homes, most of which were mobile homes. The storm has already increased demand for gasoline in the state, with about a quarter of fuel stations out of supply. Water supply has also been affected due to the storm. Pipelines have broken at many places, which has increased the problems of the people. People living in and around the Gulf Coast in Florida have been evacuated to safe places.

‘A matter of life and death’

President Joe Biden has declared an emergency for Florida and 7 thousand rescue personnel have been deployed to assist. Due to Hurricane Milton, US President Joe Biden has postponed his trip to Germany and Angola. The US President has appealed to the people to go to a safe place.
