New Delhi. The Russian woman had come to visit India. On August 17, Nina Nikonorova was traveling in Gaya-Kamakhya Express. Then she was making a video while passing over the Falgu river in Bihar, when suddenly an unknown person hit her with a stick on her hand and snatched the phone. Neena immediately went to the next station, Sheikhpura and Kamakhya railway stations and informed the Railway Police (GRP) about this incident. GRP registered a case under sections 304 (02), 313 and 317 (05) of the Indian Penal Code.
Following Neena’s complaint, GRP and Railway Protection Force (RPF) jointly launched an operation and arrested two suspects, Pintu Kumar and Sajan Kumar. Three mobile phones were recovered from them, but Neena’s phone was not found. During interrogation of the suspects, it was revealed that Neena’s phone was with a person named Sahil Paswan, who was a resident of Gandhinagar Manpur in Bihar. It was Sahil who allegedly attacked Neena and stole her phone.
Nina returned to Russia a few days after the incident, but in October she learned through an iCloud notification that her stolen phone had been activated in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Neena immediately shared this information with Indian Railways through email and also informed about the live location of the phone. With the help of Instagram’s location data, team active officials in Nagpur traced the phone and identified Sahil Paswan. His search is on.
GRP and RPF teams have started raids in Gaya district and surrounding areas of Bihar in search of Sahil. RPF and GRP teams are working cautiously to arrest the main accused of theft and recover Neena’s phone.
