Anuj Gautam, Sagar: The temple of Harsiddhi Mai of Rangir, located in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, is associated with amazing mysteries and faith. During Navratri, lakhs of devotees come here to have darshan of the Mother Goddess. It is believed that Harsiddhi Mai, who appears in three forms, fulfills the wishes of all the devotees. Situated between the Vindhya mountain ranges, this place was hidden in dense forests centuries ago. Even today, natural beauty remains in this area, which includes rivers, mountains and waterfalls.
Public opinion related to the establishment of Mata
According to local legends, centuries ago a mysterious girl used to come across the river to play in the village every day. She would go to the forest in the evening and give gold and silver coins to her friends. When the villagers tried to ask their daughters about the identity of this girl, they did not tell anything. This sequence continued for a long time, after which the villagers planned to catch him.
becoming a girl’s stone
One day the villagers started following the girl secretly. When she was crossing the river and going towards the forest, she looked back and as soon as her eyes fell on the villagers, she turned to stone at that very place. Where she became a stone, there was a vine tree, and the mother’s face was towards the south. This idol is unique in itself, because in most of the temples of Durga Mata, the idols face towards east or north, whereas here it is towards south.
Recognition of self-established Shaktipeeth
This temple of Harsiddhi Mai is also considered as Swayambhu Peeth, where no tantra-mantra is used. It is said that the Mother had appeared in the dream and told that she has come here in the Harsiddhi form of Durga and that she should be served here. Since then the worship of Mata started at this place, which continues till today. Temple priest Kamta Prasad Shastri, who is from the tenth generation of the family, says that his family has been serving this temple for centuries. The devotees coming here are freed from their troubles by the miracles and blessings of the Mother.
