Imphal: A cache of arms and ammunition was recovered by security forces during search operations in Imphal East, Thoubal and Chandel districts of Manipur. In a statement issued by the police on Friday, it was informed that weapons like pistols, shells, radio, cartridges and rifles have been recovered during the search operation. It is being told that a person has also been arrested from a check post for possessing several packets of plastic cartridges. Let us tell you that there is a lot of tension in Manipur for the last few months and incidents of sporadic violence have also been taking place.

search operation Giving information about the incident, a statement issued by the police said that 4 hand grenades, a detonator, a 9 mm pistol and magazine, a .32 pistol, a wireless radio, 30 shells, 31 bullets were recovered from Lirong Vafei village of Imphal East district. Empty cartridges, an explosive weighing about 2.5 kg, a 303 rifle, a 12 bore double barrel gun and a Pompey gun have been recovered. It was told that security forces have seized one 9 mm SMG carbine with one magazine, 2 SMG carbine magazines, one hand grenade, one detonator, 2 tear gas shells and 2 radio sets from B Phenom village of Thoubal district.
‘A 56 year old man was arrested’
A statement issued by the police said that Assam Rifles personnel recovered one automatic weapon (FGC-9) MK-2 (9 MM), 7 cartridges, 2 Pompey mortars, 2 locally made mortars from Songkhom and Gunjil villages of Chandel district of the state. (Pompei) bomb, a single barrel gun and 2 radio sets have been recovered. A 56-year-old man was arrested from T Khullen Naka check post in Senapati district on charges of possessing nine packets of SBBL plastic cartridges with 4.8 mm shrapnel, the statement said.
