Rohit Sharma could miss first test against Australia: The 3-match Test series between India and New Zealand is to start from next week. The first Test match between India and New Zealand will be played in Bengaluru from 16 October. After this, the second and third test matches will start from 24th October and 1st November respectively. After this Test series, Team India will leave for Australia tour for the Border-Gavaskar series. The Border-Gavaskar series is to start from November 22 in Perth, before which Team India has suffered a big blow. News is coming that the Indian captain may be out of the first test match.
The Indian team will leave for Australia next month and there is a possibility that Rohit Sharma may be out of the first or second Test to be held in Adelaide (6-10 December). A BCCI source, on condition of anonymity, told PTI that nothing is clear yet. It is believed that Rohit has informed the BCCI that there is a possibility that he may have to miss one of the two Test matches in the beginning of the series due to an urgent personal matter.
Will the team miss the captain?
He said that if personal issues are resolved before the start of the series, he can play all five Tests. We will get more information about this in the coming days. 37-year-old Rohit played both the home test matches against Bangladesh. India will now host New Zealand for a three-Test series starting on October 16.
If Rohit is unable to play the Test match in Australia, then in-form Abhimanyu Easwaran may get a chance, although Shubman Gill and KL Rahul are also very experienced players in the opening slot. Easwaran will also be in Australia with the India A team, which he has to command. However, there is no information on who will be the vice-captain of the Test team, as there was no official vice-captain for Rohit during the recent home series against Bangladesh.
