Patna. Supercop Shivdeep Lande, who resigned from the Indian Police Service, is once again in the news. On October 9, the Bihar government suddenly transferred him from Purnia to Patna on the post of IG Training. The question that arises is that the way Shivdeep Lande remained in continuous action after contributing to the post of IG in Purnia Range, did the same action not become the reason for his resignation?
In fact, on July 26, Shivdeep Lande had openly expressed his displeasure over the negligence in the Tanishq robbery case. He had talked about suspending all the police officers and policemen posted in the police station area in which the incident took place, including the police station chief, considering them negligent in this matter. Questioning the role of fellow Sadar DSP, a notice was also issued to him. It was written that why a report should not be filed against him to Bihar Police Headquarters for laxity and negligence. There was panic after this action of Lande.
On October 9, he took another big action. Katihar SP was instructed to investigate several points regarding the Manihari Steamer accident. It is believed that the transfer of Shivdeep Lande is a reaction to that order. Shivdeep Lande had taken strict action in the case of sinking of a cargo ship near Manihari in Katihar two years ago. He ordered a fresh investigation on 11 points. The role of Manihari’s then police station chief, CO, SDO, SDPO, MVI, DTO, mining officer and other officers was found suspicious. In his remarks, he had ordered an investigation into the role of these officers.
Within hours of this order being issued, Shivdeep Lande was transferred to the post of AAO Training. Actually, it is the occasion of Durga Puja and it is the responsibility of Bihar Police Headquarters to maintain law and order. For this reason, leaves of all policemen have been cancelled. In such a situation, Lande’s transfer is raising big questions.
