Devotees from far and wide come to the temple to offer garlands of money after their vows are fulfilled.
The temple is associated with historical importance
The history of Goriya Dham temple is hundreds of years old and it is believed that the wish made for the first time here is definitely fulfilled. This is the reason why this temple, despite being located in a rural area, attracts a large number of devotees. Along with East Champaran, people from Nepal and other districts also come here to have darshan of Mata.
Offering a garland of money on fulfillment of a wish
There is a tradition here that after the fulfillment of the vow, the devotees offer garlands of notes ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 500 as per their capacity. The price of these garlands can range from Rs 200 to Rs 10,000 and even bigger garlands can be made on order.
Business worth millions, symbol of faith
Every year a garland of money worth crores of rupees is offered to this temple, due to which the idol of the goddess is covered with notes. Talking to Local18, a shopkeeper said that he sells garlands worth Rs 4-5 lakh every year. This is just a matter of one shop, here garlands worth lakhs are sold in dozens of shops, due to which the fair becomes commercially prosperous as well.
Confluence of faith and business
A wonderful confluence of faith and business can be seen in the Goriya Dham temple. Devotees stand in long queues to have darshan of the Goddess and fulfill their wishes, while local traders also earn good profits from the shops and parking in the fair. The faith and trade of this place have made it important from both religious and economic points of view.
