It is said that Lord Shri Ram celebrated his victory over Ravana by eating this sweet. Recognizing this, people are carrying forward this tradition. However, no specific connection with it has been mentioned in the scriptures.

Reason for eating Paan-Fafda

On the day of Dussehra, in some places, apart from Jalebi, there is also a tradition of eating Paan and Fafda. After Ravana Dahan, people feed each other betel leaves and hug each other. Along with this, at many places people also celebrate by eating Fafda with Jalebi. It is said that by doing this on this day, people express the happiness of the victory of religion over unrighteousness. Curd and sugar are also eaten during the festival of Dussehra. Especially in Orissa, women offer cooked rice soaked in water along with curd to the goddess.
