Ratan Tata, a well-known industrialist across the world including India, died on Wednesday at the age of 86. He breathed his last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. There is an atmosphere of mourning everywhere from common people to politics, film and industry on the demise of Ratan Tata. Many celebrities including PM Modi have paid tribute to him. On the death of Ratan Tata, people close to him are telling many stories related to him. One such incident has been narrated by Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of Hiranandani Group. He has told that once Ratan Tata had also got a recommendation for his servant’s daughter.
Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman of Hiranandani Group, while remembering Ratan Tata, said that once Ratan Tata called him and said that he had some work for him. When Hiranandani asked for work, he did not tell on phone. Even when Niranjan Hiranandani wanted to know from Ratan Tata’s secretary, he could not find out what the work was.
After a few days, Niranjan Hiranandani received a letter written by Ratan Tata in which he had said that if it is possible for you and if you can, then get my servant’s daughter admitted in the college of Hiranandani Group. Hiranandani says that Ratan Tata took care of every small thing. If he wanted, he could have called me and told me directly, but to avoid making me uncomfortable, he wrote a letter to me requesting the admission of his servant’s daughter in our college.
Niranjan Hiranandani told that whenever Ratan Tata met, he used to discuss about health and education. Ratan Tata once came to my house to have dinner. After that, when I met him several times, he used to mention that meal and said that he must tell his wife that he had fed me a very good meal.
According to Niranjan Hiranandani, Ratan Tata first lived in a 3 BHK flat and later he moved to a bungalow. However, the bungalow was not as luxurious as it was for the Chairman of Tata Group or an industrialist like Ratan Tata and this shows that he believed in living a simple life.
