PM Modi said that at a time when the situation of conflict is continuously increasing in many parts of the world, cooperation between regional organizations and India is very important.
From the ASEAN platform, PM Modi has once again given a direct and clear signal to China. PM Modi said, ‘We are a peace-loving country. We respect each other’s national unity, integrity and sovereignty. We are committed to the bright future of our youth. I believe that the 21st century belongs to India and ASEAN countries. Let us tell you that ASEAN is an influential organization of Asian countries, which is continuously expanding. Its threat is continuously being felt on the international forum.
PM Modi met the Prime Ministers of Japan and New Zealand
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Japanese counterpart Shigeru Ishiba here on Thursday during which they discussed ways to enhance cooperation in various sectors including infrastructure, connectivity and defence. PM Modi also met New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on the sidelines of the ASEAN-India Summit in Vientiane. PM Modi is in the capital of Laos on a two-day visit. He met the newly appointed Prime Minister of Japan Ishiba on the sidelines of the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and congratulated him on his new responsibility and wished him success in taking Japan to new heights.
Talk on increasing cooperation in defense sector
PM Modi wrote on X, ‘Had a very meaningful meeting with Prime Minister Ishiba. I am happy to meet him just a few days after becoming the Prime Minister of Japan. In our conversation, ways to increase cooperation in infrastructure, connectivity, defense and other areas were discussed. There was also discussion on promoting cultural relations. Ishiba was appointed Prime Minister of Japan only last week. He replaces Fumio Kishida, who resigned from his post in favor of the new leader. PMO said, ‘Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba had excellent talks on the sidelines of the India-ASEAN Summit in Laos. They discussed ways to strengthen ties in various fields including technology, security and people-to-people ties. The Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement that the Prime Minister emphasized that India will continue to give top priority to its relations with its trusted friend and strategic partner Japan.
