Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Thursday that the administration has made full preparations in view of cyclone ‘Dana’. Speaking on cyclone ‘Dana’, Mamata Banerjee said that 3.5 lakh people living in low-lying areas of the state have been identified who will be evacuated to safe places. Banerjee has urged people to take precautionary measures and cooperate with the administration and police. The Chief Minister said that so far 2,43,374 people have taken shelter in the camps. The West Bengal chief minister said she would stay at the state secretariat throughout Thursday night and personally monitor the situation.

‘We have identified 3,56,941 people’

“We have identified 3,56,941 people to evacuate people from low-lying areas,” the Chief Minister said at the state secretariat. The Chief Secretary and Home Secretary will also monitor the situation from their respective residences and will join them again on Friday morning. Banerjee also appealed to the people not to spread rumors and panic about this. He said that a 24×7 helpline and some related phone numbers have been started for monitoring and information sharing. He said that educational institutions have been closed to ensure the safety of students.

‘Fishing is prohibited now, do not go into the water’

Mamata Banerjee Said, ‘I want your cooperation. Be alert. If the police or administration asks you to evacuate, please heed their advice and do not go into the water. Fishing is currently prohibited. Let us tell you that IMD has said that the cyclone can hit between Bhitarkanika National Park and Dhamra port of neighboring Odisha in the early hours of Friday. It is being told that during the knocking process the maximum wind speed can be around 120 kilometers per hour. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Odisha and West Bengal due to the cyclone.
