Bhubaneswar: An elderly woman died in a shelter set up to take shelter from Cyclone ‘Dana’ in Odisha’s Kendrapara district. Giving information about this on Friday, officials said that the deceased woman has been identified as 82-year-old Hemlata Nayak. He told that Hemlata was a resident of Bankual village of Kendrapara district. He was transferred to the shelter built to escape the cyclone on Thursday itself.

‘One died due to cyclone in Bengal’

At the same time, there is news of one death during the havoc of ‘Dana’ in West Bengal. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Friday that one person died due to Cyclone Dana in the state, while the administration has evacuated about 2.16 lakh people from low-lying areas. Banerjee held a review meeting at the Secretariat overnight to monitor the situation and directed officials to ensure that relief material reaches all those affected by the cyclone.

Mamata Banerjee said in her statement, ‘Only one person has died in this natural disaster. The man died while doing some cable related work at his house. This is extremely unfortunate. We will get a clear picture from the postmortem. If needed, we (state government) will help the family. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has warned of torrential rains in many districts of South Bengal including Kolkata after the severe cyclone ‘Dana’ weakened into a cyclonic storm after making landfall in Odisha on Friday.
