Shankaracharya got furious on Morari Bapu Controversial Comment: Famous Ramkatha reader Morari Bapu has been called ‘Papu’ instead of ‘Bapu’ by Jagadguru Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand. He says that he has committed a big sin, which cannot be atoned for. Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand has expressed his displeasure on the question raised on a video of Morari Bapu reciting Ramcharit Manas. In the video that went viral, Bapu is seen saying from the Katha stage that Shri Krishna had failed in establishing religion and Balram was addicted to drinking alcohol. In response to the question raised on this, Shankaracharya has not only given clarification on this controversy but has even called Morari Bapu ‘papu’.
Is such language appropriate for Brajraj Shri Baldev ji?
A devotee asked Jagadguru Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand such a question related to Murari Bapu that he became furious. A question came to him, ‘Morari Bapu has said in his story that ‘Balram ji used to consume liquor 24 hours a day. Is such language appropriate for Brajraj Shri Baldev ji? On this, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand said, ‘Drinking is prohibited in our place. It has even been said that there is no atonement for drinking alcohol. Here, there is atonement for Brahma Hatya and Cow Slaughter but not for drinking alcohol. How is it possible to show our incarnation in such circumstances?
‘This is the bankruptcy of Morari Bapu’s intellect’
He further says, ‘There is hesitation in calling him Bapu. He should be called ‘Papu’. Because he has committed a big sin, we believe so. There is one herb and myrobalan is another herb, the medicine which is made by grinding it is called ‘Varuni’. It is not sugar, it is not wine. He drinks medicine several times a day, so just by catching the word ‘drinks’ they took him towards alcohol. Varuni is a medicine, Balram ji used to consume that medicine for some reason. He used to drink it, hence declaring him a ‘drinker’ is a bankruptcy of intellect, so surely people like Morari Bapu have done it.
