Lucknow/Ayodhya. The Election Commission can announce the by-election on Milkipur Assembly of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Baba Gorakhnath’s lawyer Rudra Vikram Singh has announced to withdraw the petition filed in the High Court. Former MLA Gorakhnath had filed a petition in the High Court, hence the Election Commission did not announce the election date today. Voting for by-elections on the remaining 9 seats will be held on November 13. The results of the by-election will come on 23 November. At present, elections have not been announced for Milkipur seat of Ayodhya.
Ayodhya DM and Chief Electoral Officer Navdeep Rinwa said, ‘Baba Gorakhnath was the BJP candidate from Milkipur in the 2022 assembly elections. While filing a petition in the Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court, he had claimed that the date of the affidavit filed by Awadhesh Prasad at the time of nomination had expired. In the petition, he had demanded to declare himself elected and cancel the election of SP candidate Awadhesh Prasad. The petition is pending in Lucknow High Court. Now Baba Gorakhnath’s lawyer has announced to withdraw the petition.
