A new beginning has been made in the decoration of Ravana’s market in Ravana’s in-laws house also. Ravana is being sold for Rs 1,500 to Rs 7,000.

People mourn here on Ravana Dahan
The cultural capital of Rajasthan, Surya Nagri Jodhpur is also known as Ravana’s in-laws house. But due to the residence of Ravana’s descendants here, there is a temple of Ravana on Kila Road in Jodhpur, where apart from Ravana, the idol of Mandodari and Ravana’s family deity mother Kharanna is also installed. Not only this, Ravana’s descendants mourn on the day of Ravana Dahan. Ravana also takes bath etc. after the burning.

Like other places, in Jodhpur too the Ravana Dahan ceremony is organized by the Municipal Corporation at the government level. However, now mohalla committees have started burning Ravana in different areas of Jodhpur. Due to this, the demand for Ravana has increased and the market of Jamai Raja i.e. Ravana has been set up in the streets.

They started making effigies for Dussehra a month in advance and have prepared about 50 to 100 small and big effigies. For Dussehra, a market of effigies of Ravana has been decorated on the streets of Jodhpur. Various types of Ravanas are being sold here, colorful, big eyes, ten heads, some are two feet in size and some are 20 feet tall. In Jodhpur city, effigies of Ravana are ready for sale from Pal Road intersection to Mandi Mod and Saran Nagar Bridge Road. There are effigies ranging from two feet to 20 feet tall. Effigies of larger size than this are being made only on order. The highest demand is for a 10 to 15 feet tall effigy of Lankapati.
